Scott's Story:
Scott had a deep overbite that caused his chin to appear small. A deep overbite is not something people can "outgrow" and many adults live their lives with this issue. The jaw assumed a natural position when the teeth were changed to allow the jaw to move forward.

TMJ AND DEEP OVERBITES
The TMJ (jaw joint) is negatively affected with a deep overbite. The lower jaw is pushed back of the center of the upper socket in the skull. The lower jaw is pushed closer to the ear than normal, which sometimes causes ear pain, jaw pain, clicking and popping of the jaw and headaches. A deep overbite changes the normal jaw position and can compromise jaw function. As the patient gets older, the teeth wear down and the deep overbite gets worse along with shortening of the entire face. Notice in the after photo, Scott's entire face was lengthened and his jaw is moved to a natural forward position. Scott is older in the after photo but he would still have a small looking chin and a deep overbite without treatment.
