A dental implant is a replacement root of a missing tooth. A dental implant replaces your tooth as long as you have enough bone to hold the implant into position.

The gum must cover the implant completely or else you will have metal showing. Your gum should fit up in between your teeth or else you will have a dark space or gap between your teeth. Food will collect in those places.
