Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are a complete covering for your tooth for the purpose of adding strength, improving the shape or rebuilding your bite (occlusion). Porcelain Crowns can be made with solid porcelain.

However, there are many different types of porcelain combinations that have varying characteristics. The ability of your dentist to use these materials is critical. A porcelain crown can look completely natural, does not stain and will not discolor. It is very strong but can be made stronger if there is a gold metal core under the porcelain.

Porcelain fused to metal is the strongest most durable porcelain crown made today. Crowns are not permanent and should be replaced as needed.
